My journey as a performance nutritionist started later than most in life when I decided to leap back into the World of education rather than buy a house!
This website is dedicated to providing YOU with tasty, nutritious and easy to prepare fuel and information to boost you performance. Fuel and Perform is based on a scientific but practical approach to fueling for optimal performance. I aim to take all the hard work out of feeding, training is hard enough, eating should be that enjoyable bonus you get from training.
A trip to Australia where the trend for healthy food was in the full swing in the early 2000s coupled with a love for sport left me in no doubt that marrying them together was my obvious career path. The return to education was the best decision I ever made, although at times I did wonder whether I would ever see daylight from the basement of the DCU Sports Science Department 🙂 However, it was there I found my passion, which is neither food nor sport but how when combined together appropriately they interact to change the way the body responds, which is powerful enough to help people reach their sporting goals no matter the level of expertise.
It is no surprise to anyone that I love what I do. I know and believe that food is one of the most powerful tools an athlete can engage to achieve their performance goals. I enjoy educating and aim to empower each athlete by providing practical nutrition tools and delicious yet easy to prepare recipes to support each individual’s sporting goals regardless of discipline or expertise.
